Melbourne is Australia’s second-largest city and is renowned as the most European in feel with its trams rattling past Victorian buildings, parks and cafes. It is also the gateway to other great attractions in the state of Victoria such as the Great Ocean Drive and the giant limestone structures, the Twelve Apostles, located just off the coast at Port Campbell National. Melbourne is a lively and cosmopolitan city in which to spend a few days, exploring areas such pretty city centre with its streets that slope down to the Yarra River, the funky beach area of St Kilda and the vibrant waterfront Southbank area, famed for its restaurants, art galleries and boutique shopping.

  • Visit Australia’s oldest public art gallery, the National Gallery of Victoria that celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2011. Its free, except for special exhibitions
